Why an online bookstore? Over the years, I have received many requests for recommendations on books. These requests came from clients, colleagues, friends and family. I occasionally had a recommendation at hand, ready to be delivered. Just as often, however, the title or the author has escaped me and my own copy had already been loaned or lost. On this site, you can find many of the books I have recommended to others and many that they have recommended to me. I have also included books I have not read (yet) but that are by respected authors whose ideas and opinions I respect or who are experts in their respective fields. Other popular titles may appear in the Amazon.com sections. These books are listed automatically and are often unfamiliar to me, so I cannot vouch for their quality.

Do you profit from these purchases? Yes, a small percentage of purchases from Amazon sales that originate at this site is given back to me. Last I checked, the percentage was around 4 or 5%. In other words, if you bought a $20 book, one dollar would come back to me. These proceeds are used to support the costs of running this site and do not represent a significant source of income to me. Barring a sudden flood of traffic to this site and many, many purchases, I will never recoup the cost in money--and certainly not in time!--to get this site up and running. And that's okay.

What's up with those wacky ads on the right? Those are Google Ads, another effort to offset a small fraction of the cost of maintaining this site. I get a few cents every time a visitor to this site follows one of those links. Sorry, I do not control the content of those ads so some of them may not be relevant. But, by all means, click on them if you see something interesting there! (

Who owns and runs this site? This site is privately owned and run by White Pine Behavioral Health LLC based in Portland, ME, and managed by Joel Guarna.
